The Fatal Lie of DeFi: Why "Auditing" No Longer Means Security
2026-07-29 20:05:38
According to CoinMeta and 99bitcoins, in the first half of 2026, the crypto industry suffered losses of $939.86 million due to 135 security incidents. Although more than half of the attacked projects underwent security audits, these audits did not cover all potential risks. Research shows that 46 audited projects were attacked outside of the audit scope, resulting in losses of $680.97 million, which accounts for approximately 94.4% of the total losses of all audit victims. This indicates that audits cannot guarantee the security of the entire system, and the industry needs to shift to real-time monitoring and dynamic auditing to cope with the rapidly changing threat environment.
