Mirae Asset has completed its acquisition of Korbit, a long-established South Korean cryptocurrency exchange, and plans to rename it Digital X. The company aims to expand its platform from a single trading venue into a comprehensive ecosystem connecting real-world assets, security tokens, stablecoins, and digital assets.
The platform is shifting its focus to comprehensive investment services.
Mirae Asset stated that Digital X will not solely focus on competing on trading volume, but will prioritize investment education, research capabilities, and compliance infrastructure. The company claims that the platform will connect knowledge, information, and investment insights to form what it calls a "smart investment platform."
RWA, stablecoins, and digital assets in parallel
According to the company's vision, Digital X will integrate traditional assets, RWA, security token issuance, stablecoins, and digital assets into a unified system. Mirae Asset hopes it will function more as an infrastructure layer, rather than simply competing for retail and institutional orders in the Korean exchange market.
Compliance and institutionalization are key.

Mirae Asset also emphasized that the platform will strictly enforce AML, KYC, and anti-fraud standards. The company stated that this approach targets both retail and institutional clients. Korbit currently holds less than 1% market share in South Korea, far behind Upbit and Bithumb.
